Steel Match Clinic

If you’ve never shot a Steel Match before, this 1 day clinic will help you learn how. You’ll engage steel targets ranging from 220 to 550 yards, shooting from a variety of props and obstacles.

When
Sunday June 17, 2018.
Check-in is from 7:00-7:30 am. Clinic is 7:30 am – 2:00 pm.

Where
At the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. Follow the signs to Range 6.

Cost
$125 per shooter. Includes range fees, instruction, drinks, and lunch.
Please note that there are no refunds for cancellations.

Prerequisites
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must be able to legally own a firearm.
We recommend you attend one of our Long Range practice sessions or matches beforehand.
You must be proficient in operating your rifle and scope.

Required Equipment
Bolt action rifle chambered in 6mm up to .30 caliber. Maximum velocity of 3100 fps. No gas guns.
Tactical rifle scope with Mil or MOA ranging reticle (not a simple crosshair nor ballistic reticle) and elevation adjustment turret.
80 rounds of ammunition.
Empty Chamber Indicator Flag (you can pick one up during registration for $1.00).
Eye and ear protection are mandatory.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100 yards.
You will need ballistics data (DOPE) for 220, 330, 425, and 550 yards.
Rifle Sling.
A backpack or shooting bag to carry all your kit in.
Bipod or pack to shoot from.
Rear rest or sand sock.
Note taking gear.
Tools to run your rifle and optic.
Dress for the weather, we will shoot rain or shine.
Long pants are recommended. 
Elbow and knee pads.
Sun block.
You will walk to various stages on the range, so please have your gear mobile and be ready to move.
Bring snacks that you can eat on the go. We will have water available.

Introduction to our shooting discipline here at Sac Valley Shooting Center.
Prone and positional shooting tips and techniques.
Techniques and concepts for shooting off of props.
Position transition and safety.
Target identification.
Dialing elevation vs. hold over.
Wind reading techniques.
Course of Fire (COF) planning – stage preparation, position approach and order, time management, magazine changes, gear, etc.
Equipment and shooting aids.

You will be assigned to a squad, with coaches to assist you. Your squad will shoot a variety of stages. Each stage will present different targets, prop(s), round counts, and distances ranging from 220 to 550 yards.

Please note that you must follow all safety procedures and be aware at all times. Anyone that violates a safety procedure will be removed from the clinic.

Registration
Registration opens on April 30, 2018 at 6:00 pm Pacific time. Once registration opens, please complete the Online Registration Form. You will receive a response within a few days of your entry request.
